Reliability Modelling and Analysis of the Power Take-Off System of an Oscillating Wave Surge Converter

Wave power is a potential technology for generating sustainable renewable energy. Several types of wave energy converters (WECs) have been proposed this purpose. WECs operate in harsh maritime environment that sets strict limitations on how and when the device can be economically safely reached maintenance. Thus, to ensure profitable generation over system life cycle, reliability key aspect considered WEC development. In article, we describe analysis approach development, based use block diagram (RBD) modelling. We apply case study involving submerged oscillating surge converter concept utilizes hydraulics its take-off system. addition describing modelling approach, discuss data sources were used gathering components novel with very limited historical or experimental available. This includes considerations quality from various sources. As result, present examples applying RBD context development applicability supporting new technologies.
